What has changed

Mean monthly earnings increased from 2,483 in 2024 to 2,605 in 2025 (+4.9%).
Mean monthly earnings increased from 2,003 in 2020 to 2,605 in 2025 (+30.1%).

The statutory minimum wage

Cyprus introduced its first statutory minimum wage in 2023(first published half-year: 2023-S1). An EU comparison for this measure isn’t available on this site yet, even though most other EU states have their own minimum wage too.

Latest half-year (2026-S2): €1,088 a month, or 1,220 PPS (purchasing power standard – adjusts for how much things actually cost in Cyprus).

No figure before 2023

The table above starts at 2023-S1 because Cyprus had no statutory minimum wage before 2023. In the underlying data, every earlier half-year is marked “not applicable” – a different state from a figure the publisher simply did not report.

How Cyprus compares with the rest of the EU, 2022

Ranked in euros, not purchasing power standard (PPS) – so this ranking reflects each country’s price level as well as its pay: a euro buys more in a lower-priced country, so a country can rank lower here in euros than it would in PPS. Eurostat also publishes this measure in PPS, which is not shown here.

Median, not mean

This is the only wages measure on this page ranked against other EU states – it is a median, from a survey of enterprises with 10 or more employees, and is never the same figure as CYSTAT’s mean shown above.

Change in method, 2024

The 2024 column reflects a change in how these figures are worked out. Years before 2024 are not directly comparable with 2024 or later – do not read a change from an earlier year into 2024 as a real jump in household income. This change does not affect the comparison from 2024 to 2025, which is on the same basis.
