People in Cyprus
Two different questions, two different answers. Citizenship is the passport a person holds and can be acquired or lost. Country of birth is where they were born and never changes. Neither tells you when somebody arrived, what their residence status is, or what they believe.
At the 2021 census, Cyprus counted 923,381 people, broken down below by country of birth.
Population by
Country of birth. The country a person was born in, at district level. Not citizenship, and not migration status: being born abroad does not make someone a migrant, and being born in Cyprus does not make someone a citizen.
Published groups
The categories CYSTAT itself publishes. These are not countries.
Individual countries (65)
Counted at the 2021 census, 1 October 2021. Select one to see how it is spread across districts.
Residual and non-response
“Other countries” is the publisher’s catch-all; “Not stated” is people who did not answer. Neither is redistributed across the other rows or treated as zero.
