- Trust in other people (average rating)
- What is counted
- Mean of self-reported answers, on a scale from 0 ("you do not trust any other person") to 10 ("most people can be trusted"), among survey respondents aged 16 and over. Collected through the well-being variables of EU-SILC and published by Eurostat as table ilc_pw03.
- How to read it
- A country average of a subjective self-report. It says nothing about any individual, and it is not a measure of how trustworthy people in a country are — only of what respondents said. Cross-country comparison of 0-10 scale questions is affected by differences in response style, so small gaps between countries should not be read as real differences.

Methodological caveats
GENERALISED INTERPERSONAL TRUST — the average of self-reported answers on a 0-10 scale to a survey question about trust in other people, among respondents aged 16 and over. It measures a country average of a subjective self-report, NOT an objective property of a country and NOT a property of any individual. Cross-country differences in survey response style are a known confounder for scale questions of this kind, so small gaps between countries should not be read as real. Eurostat publishes no sample size on this table; the EU-SILC sample sizes are in the survey methodology. This is the sole cultural/social indicator ingested so far and is NOT combined into any similarity score.
