Methodological caveats
Persons who moved during the calendar year, as the reporting country defines them: definitions of who counts as an immigrant/emigrant, the minimum length of stay and the registration source differ by country, so flows are not strictly comparable across countries and are never a population stock. The citizenship groups are as published: FOR_STLS = EU27_2020_FOR + NEU27_2020_FOR + STLS and NAT + FOR_STLS + UNK = TOTAL (checked on Germany 2024); no group is summed on the site. Net migration on the site is a labelled difference of the two published totals, not a Eurostat figure. Eurostat flags a break in this country's time series for this indicator in 2008: values on either side of a break were not measured the same way, so the change across it is not a like-for-like movement.
